Het Anker

Het Anker Brewery is a Flemish brewery in Mechelen, originally founded in 1471. In 1872 the brewery was acquired by Louis Van Breedam who expanded its assortment of brews from lagers to ale amd began producing "Emperor Beer" now called Gouden Carolus.

The original Gouden Carolus is now branded as "Classic" to distinguish it from Gouden Carolus Tripel, Ambrio and extra hopped- Hopsinjoor.

Once a year the brewery produces a strong (11%) version of the classic called Cuvee van de Keizer- "Emperor's Vat."
